Welcome to Miss DeLaPaz's Counseling Corner!
Hello Everyone,
My name is Jasmine DeLaPaz and I am so excited to be your School Counselor!
Elementary school is where students create their foundation for developing knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to become confident, healthy, and accomplished individuals. I am here to help ensure each student has the necessary tools to succeed. As an extra layer of support for your child, I am able to assist them in navigating conflicts, difficult times at school, and academics.Role of the School Counselor:
The role of a school counselor is essential for students to succeed in not only academics, but also in personal relationships and social development. The ultimate goal for school counselors is to help students mature into happy, adjusted, successful members of society. School Counselors work hard to do this by creating and implementing comprehensive programs. Counselors promote positive development for all students academically and socio-emotionally by actively collaborating with stakeholders (teachers, administrators, parents, special services, related service providers, and community resource providers), providing students with necessary coping skills, and lending resources/references to those in need.
Specific topics that are addressed each year include: bullying, conflict resolution, conflict management, behavioral management, self-esteem, mindfulness, and community building.
What I do:- Individual counseling
- Group counseling
- Classroom character education/social emotional lessons
- Respond to school crises and emergency situations
- Collaborate with stakeholders/case managers/students
